We catch up with Arthur Chapman for the latest news from Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry.

So Arthur, what’s been happening since our last chat?

Well, I thought that once I moved up here, my life would slow a tad … not true. In fact, I have kept myself busy attending some great Health/Aged Industry network meetings in both Taree and the Great lakes. I feel privileged to be among a group with a fair dinkum interest in what they are doing for our community and our own great village team in the Excellence of Service that we provide here at Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry. Our team here at Sunrise are also entering into the up and coming ‘Relay for Life’.

Our residents have enjoyed the village gardens as they have blossomed and had the most wonderful Christmas in July, where many had a good dance – something many had not had for a good decade. Can you imagine not having had a dance for 10 years? So who knows … maybe there is some magic here at Sunrise.

We have worked hard on reducing the village carbon foot print in conjunction with Great Lakes Council and to date, the village has had some remarkable results in the reduction of both water and power – so that’s a credit to the ongoing support of all concerned.

I have not dulled on this great region – and nor the residents. We had a fantastic Sunday out at Krambach Hall with their Country Music Day recently. We would like to thank the village of Krambach for a great day, and it is certainly a place to drop into and go for a walk. We do have some great country around here, and just driving around makes you appreciate it more.

And what is it that you like about the Sunrise model?

Let me tell you all about what we have to offer that excites me about Sunrise Supported Living. I am hoping that when you or your family are thinking Supported Living, you will think of Sunrise Tuncurry – and maybe even have a look at what I believe ticks all the boxes.

Our model is based on, but not part of, the ‘Humanitas philosophy’ (Google the term for an interesting read about ageing in place), where you can change your address, yet still maintain your independence right through life, with the security of knowing that you can utilise the ‘support services’ that Sunrise Supported Living prides itself on.

The apartments are self-contained with the highest quality and fittings, with you own door key for peace of mind. You can even bring your care services with you, as many of our residents have, or let our 1st class care team assist you with your personal care plan, which includes freshly prepared meals by our village chef. As a resident, you can come and go as you please and the village bus does regular trips for shopping and the local entertainment centres.

I have been handed the privilege of not only managing the operational side of Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry, but now also taking care of all interested enquires that you have about Sunrise Supported Living Tuncurry being your new address. Remember … our doors are always open.

Arthur Chapman.
