In the lead up to the 2010 Flair Awards held in August, we meet three of the top local models who will be taking to the catwalk to model the show’s designs

Sophie Bird

Is this your first time modelling for Flair Fashion Awards?

Nope, I was lucky enough to model last year as well.

When you are not on the cat walk, what do you like to do?

I love to read, experiment with photography and art, spend time with my family and catch up with friends.

Describe your own personal style.

Eclectic. I like to combine vintage pieces with new and attempt to make my own clothes or modify op-shop buys. But I always wear things that I feel good in. I love fashion and just experiment!

Why should people be coming to Flair this year?

There aren’t many opportunities for people to gain exposure to fresh local talent in the fashion industry in our area, and Flair is the perfect opportunity to dress up and have a great night out.

It is also excellent for the designers to get their work shown and any aspiring models to get on the catwalk. There are heaps of categories within the show, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Flair Awards are amazing, and nobody should miss out!

Jessica Dallywater

Is this your first time modelling for Flair Fashion Awards?

This is my second year, and I must say it’s just as exciting as last year – a very enjoyable affair. Since then I’ve also participated in the Taree and Port Macquarie Bridal Expos too.

Why should people be coming to Flair this year?

Seeing the creative genius of the up and coming designers is the main focus. The effort that goes into making the Flair awards a success from all parties is revealed when the parade begins and follows through until the close. All the different sections, from the long gowns of After Dark to the imagination of Theatre and all that’s in-between are both inspiring and beautiful and a highlight for the local area.

Ryan Rowsell

Is this your first time modelling for Flair Fashion Awards?

Yes, this will be my first time actually modelling for the Flair Fashion Awards, as last year I helped present the awards but did not show off any of the designer’s clothes.

What do you do when you’re not on the catwalk?

When I’m not on the catwalk, I usually just like to relax at home and watch a movie or two with a couple of friends. In addition to this, I try and work out as much as possible so that I have more to show off at Flair during the bathing suit section (laughs).

What is your own personal style?

My own personal style would have to be a street/urban theme. I love all music but nothing beats hip-hop in my opinion, and my passion for this music helps me choose the types of clothes I wear.

Thanks everyone
