Troy Cassar-Daley headlines the 4th Blue Water Country Music Festival in Port Stephens, June 5 – 8, bringing country to the coast. The Festival will be held over the June long weekend in picturesque Port Stephens, one of Australia’s great holiday destinations – just one hour north of Newcastle and two hours north of Sydney on the NSW Coast.
Judging by the level of interest from both performers and potential visitors, the magnificent Blue Water paradise of Port Stephens will again provide a spectacular backdrop to many venues, as well as attracting a premier line-up of established country music artists.
Are you a great talent waiting to be discovered?
The Blue Dolphin Awards, the premier event of the Festival, celebrates new talent in Australian Country Music and could be the ideal start for you. This year’s competition is open to amateur, semi-professional and professional artists aged 18 to 30 years in the Singer/Songwriter and Lyrics categories.
The Awards are sponsored by ACCOM Nelson Bay, a long established real estate company experienced in holiday letting, offering professional advice on a wide range of holiday accommodations across the whole Tomaree Peninsula.
First prize carries $1,000, plus a recording contract sponsored by Rod & Jeff McCormack from Music Cellar Recording Studio and a trophy. Runner-up receives $350 and a trophy, while 3rd place getter wins $100 and a trophy. The first three place getters in the Lyrics section will each receive a Certificate.
The Awards will be hosted at Nelson Bay Golf Club, which offers a magical backdrop to this very special event on Saturday 6 June 2009, from 10am. Entry forms can be found on the country music web site.
Past years’ winners like Kaylah-Anne and Melanie Dwyer have both gone on to carve successful country music careers.
We can’t have a music festival without buskers. This year the Blue Water Busking Titles is attracting interesting performers. Entrants will be able to busk in designated areas from 4pm Friday 5th June to 6.30pm Sunday 7th June. Judges will patrol the official busking areas during those dates at random times. Official judging and award presentation will be held on Monday, 8/6/09 at 11am on the CBD Stage, Stockton Street, Nelson Bay. Five acts will be chosen to perform and 3 will be selected as finalists. It’s not too late to enter.
The 2009 overall winner of the Blue Water Busking Titles will win a cash prize of $400, a trophy and certificate. Second and 3rd place winners will receive respectively, a cash prize of $250 and $100 and a certificate.
